Madame Marie’s Weekly Roundup: Toronto’s Best Takeout and Delivery During COVID-19 – June 25, 2020

Toronto has come a long way in the last week, and is now officially in Stage 2. This means that restaurants, bars, food trucks, wineries and breweries can open for dining in outdoor areas only – observing the rules, of course.

Let’s celebrate summer, patio season, and this overall exciting milestone with some of my takeout picks.

Annette Food Market
240 Annette Street
(416) 519-4103
annettefoodmarket.com

Annette Food Market is all about community and comfort food. Think: wood-fired aged sourdough pizzas and Italian sharing plates. Although their cozy indoor dining room isn’t open, their takeout menu is the next best thing. Grab a Caesar salad and an irresistible pizza for a weeknight meal al fresco or try the eggplant parm and a bottle of wine for a more refined offering. Some personal favourites include the sausage and rapini pizza with generous chunks of spicy ‘nduja, fresh chili pepper and Fior di latte and the fork-shreddable beef short rib. Dishes are available à la carte or in family formats. Place an order on their website.

Hexagon
210 Lakeshore Road East
(905) 844-1286
hexagonrestaurant.com/

Located in the heart of historic downtown Oakville, Hexagon is a modern French restaurant that was recently named one of Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants 2020. If you’ve had the pleasure of being in Chef Rafael Covarrubias’ hands, you know that he doesn’t disappoint. And, he’s only 25! Throughout COVID-19, Hexagon has been offering a tasting menu for dinner and an à la carte menu for both lunch and Sunday brunch. At a reasonable price point of $38 per person, sample some of Hexagon’s noteworthy dishes, such as big eye tuna with rhubarb, coconut and lime and succulent aged striploin. Hexagon is now accepting patio reservations as well, so if you’re looking to venture out into the world again, it’s worth the trip to Oakville.

The Regular
548 Annette Street
No phone
rglrcoffee.square.site/

Nestled between the Junction and Bloor West Village, The Regular serves up a variety of unique coffee offerings and nostalgic pastries. With a rotating selection of coffee from Canadian roasters, such as Vancouver’s Luna, there’s always a good reason to return. They have recently reopened with limited hours (Thursday to Sunday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.). If you’re in the neighbourhood, grab a frothy latte or a pour over and explore the ‘hood.

Latte from The Regular.

Bon appétit!

Bisous,

Mme. M. xoxo
