Madame Marie’s Weekly Roundup: Toronto’s Best Takeout and Delivery During COVID-19 – April 9, 2020

Bonjour, Toronto! Each week brings many more takeout and delivery options to our city, and for that, we are grateful. Our restaurants have gone above and beyond during this pandemic to keep us fed. This week, consider supporting some of the establishments below to help #SaveHospitalityCA. And, don’t forget to come back every Thursday for my weekly roundup!

Drake Commissary

128 Sterling Road
(416) 432-2922
drakecommissary.ca

In the wake of COVID-19, the Drake’s Junction Triangle dine-in/grab-and-go outpost has expanded their business model to include Uber Eats delivery as well as pick up. You can find many of the Drake’s signature breads, sauces and drool-worthy brisket on their latest menu. The creamy Caesar ($12), flat top burger ($12) and hand-cut fries ($8) are the perfect trifecta – with all food groups covered! If you’re running low on beer, get 20% your Henderson Brewery Co. Bottle Shop with any meal purchase (pick up only). Drake TO GO is also available at The Drake Hotel (1150 Queen Street West).

We can’t escape Toronto to soak up the Mexican sun, so why not bring the authentic flavours of Mexican cuisine to your home? Mad Mexican, an adored west-end restaurant at Jane and Annette, is offering their full menu for takeout and delivery (UberEats, DoorDash and Foodora). The menu has 11 varieties of authentic tacos to choose from (including pollo tinga and barbacoa de borrego) as well as irresistible tortillas that you can dunk into pico de gallo and chunky guac, to name a few. If you’re looking to add some spice to quarantine, bring the fiesta chez vous!

If you’re looking for a great bottle (or case) of elusive wine and lighter bites, chef-owner of Bar Piquette, Grant van Gameren, has you covered. The bar recently announced via Instagram they are offering pick up orders. Check out this post, and host your own virtual wine and cheese this long weekend.

Hopping Into Easter Weekend

If you weren’t lucky enough to snag one of Alo’s Michelin-worthy takeout meals this weekend, here are a few other options to consider for quarantine Easter dinner: Presidential Gourmet, By Peter and Pauls, Encore Catering.

Get your Easter Bunny chocolate delivered with the help of Mary’s Brigadeiro, Nadège and Soma. If you missed CBXO’s delivery deadline, their signature paint-splattered Ziggy Stardust Disco Egg is available for curb side pickup, so get it while it’s hot!

If you’re searching some fresh inspiration for cooking à la maison, browse through Open Source Cookbook, a compilation of recipes, designed “to be used in quarantine during a global pandemic.” I might put my baking to the test and try Mom’s Bourbon Chocolate Cake this weekend. Happy cooking!
