Madame Marie’s Weekly Roundup: Toronto’s Best Takeout and Delivery During COVID-19 – April 30, 2020

Bonjour, Toronto!

In an effort to support the city’s phenomenal restaurants throughout COVID-19, I’m highlighting some places every Thursday. Please join me, and do what you can to support our local businesses.

Here are my picks this week.

Weslodge
480 King Street West
(647) 660-0999
weslodge.com

Bring the Wild West to your home with takeout/delivery from one of King West’s iconic restaurants, Weslodge. This modern-day saloon has expertly crafted libations and delicious North American fare on offer – and you can enjoy it all chez vous. In addition to their normal menu, they offer “Date Night for 2” for a reasonable $75. This three-course meal includes creamy kale Caesar salad, a whole southern fried chicken with all the fixings, a side of pimento mac and cheese, and Basque cheesecake topped with wild blueberry sauce. And that’s not all. Make your date night complete with a bottle of red/white wine, Negroni or Old Fashioned. Delivery is also available on Uber Eats, DoorDash, Foodora, Ritual.

Fresh
326 Bloor Street West (several other locations across Toronto)
(416) 599-4442
freshplantpowered.com

Fresh is the OG when it comes to crave-able vegan fare in Toronto, having been in business since 1999. If you’re looking to add a dose of health to lockdown, let Fresh’s wholesome menu inspire you. From satisfying salads with house made dressing to superfood smoothies to plant-based burgers, there’s something everyone will love (yes, even the carnivores!). The Quinoa Onion Rings, Beach Bowl, Big Salad and Chipotle Bacon Burger are all delicious options. Contactless pickup and delivery are available at all locations.

Craig’s Cookies
1537 Queen Street West
(647) 343-5156
craigscookies.com

Sweet, gooey, stuffed-to-the-max cookies from Craig’s Cookies will evoke childhood nostalgia – with or without a glass of milk. Using only the best ingredients, owner Craig Pike bakes these drool-worthy treats using his mom’s tried-and-true recipe. The menu rotates often with flavours to keep you coming back, such as classic chocolate chip, maple bacon and Nutella. Place an order for a half dozen ($15) or dozen ($28) cookies through the website or DoorDash. Consider ordering dough to bake at home to make your days in lockdown a little sweeter.

Cookies by Craig’s Cookies are best paired with milk.

Have a safe (and delicious) week ahead!

Bisous,

Mme. M. xoxo
