Madame Marie’s Weekly Roundup: Toronto’s Best Takeout, Delivery and Dining During COVID-19 – April 23, 2021

Even though we can’t dine in for the time being, we can continue to support our local restaurants by ordering takeout. Take a peek at this week’s picks for some delicious inspiration.

Langdon Hall
1 Langdon Drive, Cambridge
516-740-2100
langdonhall.ca

Langdon Hall, a celebrated country house hotel and spa nestled in the Carolinian Forest, is a destination for epicureans. Chef Jason Bangerter and team are bringing exquisite, yet comforting culinary creations to diners during the latest stay-at-home order through their Saturday Night Dinner at Home. This three-course finish-at-home meal ($68 per person) is expertly crafted with the same attention to detail and high standards you’d expect if you were in the dining room. Last week’s menu included bread and house-churned butter, greenhouse greens with Parmesan and grissini, red wine braised short rib and onion ragout, Jerusalem artichoke “mac and cheese”, and spiced apple crumble with crème anglaise. To complement your meal, browse the online wine cellar and select one of the many bottles recommended by the sommelier. For breakfast the following morning, consider ordering a half-dozen irresistible croissants or pain au chocolate paired with house made preserves. Place your order by Tuesday for Saturday pick up between 2 and 4 p.m. You’ll be hard pressed to find better takeout in the Cambridge-Kitchener-Waterloo region, and it’s certainly worth the scenic escape from Toronto.

Union
72 Ossington Avenue
416-850-0093
union72.ca

This charming restaurant on the Ossington strip stays true to its farm-to-table roots with its simple and satisfying takeout offerings. Whether you order sticky ribs or an all-day breakfast, there’s no holding back on flavours. The faint charcoal-smoked taste is just one example that’s apparent in many of the protein dishes. If you haven’t yet tried the Union Burger, takeout is the ideal way to indulge. Order it a la carte, or consider making these crave-worthy delights from the comfort of your home with the Union Homecook Burger Box (available in portions of 2, 3 and 4). If you’re looking to relive the days of boozy weekend brunching, Union offers a weekend brunch menu with all the fan favourites as well. Union Breakfast Sandwich and Caesar, anyone?

Fahrenheit Coffee
120 Lombard Street
529 Richmond Street West
fahrenheitcoffee.com

Known for its quality coffee, this independent coffee chain is the perfect place for any avid coffee drinker to indulge in a caffeinated beverage and a treat. Since 2011, Fahrenheit has been offering three different espresso origins which rotate seasonally. Details of each roast are handwritten on chalkboards, making it easy to customize your beverage. The Diablo bean with oat milk is equal parts nutty and smooth. A tempting display of freshly baked scones, cookies and croissants are the perfect pairing for your Americano, latte, or Cortado (Fahrenheit’s specialty drink). With two of its three locations still open during the pandemic, consider grabbing your next cup from one of its cozy shops.

Bon appétit!

Bisous,

Mme. M. xoxo
