Madame Marie’s Weekly Roundup: Toronto’s Best Takeout and Delivery During COVID-19 – June 18, 2020

Phenomenal food is undoubtedly one of the best parts about living in Toronto. Until our city’s restaurants re-open to dine in, there are countless takeout and delivery options that will satisfy your cravings.

Here are my picks this week.

Chubby’s Jamaican Kitchen
104 Portland Street
(416) 792-8105
chubbysjamaican.com

Chubby’s serves an elevated and tasty menu of “likkle bites,” entrees, fresh salads and jerk pit grill items that will transport you to the Caribbean (much-needed right now, I may add!). If you’re hosting a small gathering, consider Chubby’s Family Meal to Go for two to four people with some of their favourite picks. The spicy jerk wings, zippy coleslaw and moist carrot cake will keep your stomach happy for days. Chubby’s has also partnered with Feed the Frontlines – a grassroots organization that provides healthy meals to frontline workers while providing support to local restaurants. Order takeout or delivery on Tock, Uber Eats, Skip the Dishes, DoorDash and Ritual. Hours of operation are Tuesday to Saturday from 3 to 9 p.m.

Almond Butterfly
790 Dundas Street West (and one other location)
(416) 862-2030
almondbutterfly.com

Almond Butterfly is a mecca for gluten-free baked goods that are also dairy-free and vegan in many cases. As many people know, “gluten-free” anything doesn’t necessarily mean it stacks up to its gluten-laden counterparts. Believe me, Almond Butterfly will change your mind. With a fresh selection of baked goods, impeccable tea and espresso lattes and larger dishes (including crave-worthy brunch), you’ll be in for treat. Try their signature gluten-free “Almond Butterfly” cupcake or the chocolate chunk cookie for a little pick-me-up. Both locations are open for take away and delivery.

A delicious, gluten-free chocolate chunk cookie.

Naan & Chai
712 Queen St. West
(416) 366-6226
naanandchai.com

If you like the portability of pizza and the rich spices of Pakistani cuisine, Naan & Chai might be your new go-to. The restaurant, which opened just before the pandemic hit, offers a delicious selection of comforting mains and stuffed naan. For $15 each, stuffed naan varieties include tandoori chicken, spiced potato, Kit Kat, and more. These portable pockets of goodness are perfect for picnic lunches (note: Trinity Bellwoods is right down the street). No meal is complete without a cup of chai, so grab a saffron chai or Kashmiri chai to wash down your stuffed naan. Available for pick-up and delivery.

Stuffed naan.

Bon appétit!

Bisous,
